This platform allows you to send a text message, or a photo, to your friends that will self-destruct based on the amount of time you set.

But using this app can potentially cause many problems for the parents that monitor them.

What’s the big deal?

Having contemplated this platform, I see the following problems for parents and educators:

Sexting – While we hope that our young people never partake in this action, we know the evidence points to the contrary. By sending dirty pictures, the young person may feel safe knowing that the recipient has a pre-determined amount of time to view the picture.

Cheating – As an educator today, it is a constant struggle to monitor students for academic dishonesty. I can imagine during a quiz or test, a student could take a picture of the document and send it to students that have not yet taken the quiz. The dishonest student can feel relatively safe knowing that the evidence of this action will self-destruct.

My takeaway

I believe this app is probably used in benign manners and is most likely just a novelty among our youth. However, it is important, as always, to monitor the use of the phones of your children to make sure they stay safe.

As someone that suffers from adult ADHD, it is extremely useful for me to use a blog editorial calendar to keep myself organized and my content fresh.

There are many different types of calendars from which you may choose. The tool that I use is the wordpress editorial calendar plugin. This nifty little plugin integrates perfectly into your existing wordpess framework. Not only can you schedule blog posts for the future, it will also place your existing posts into the calendar so that you can quickly see where you have been and where you will be going. I also like the drag and drop feature of scheduling my blog posts.

Some other tools that you might consider using are a google calendar or a traditional paper calendar.

I prefer the plugin for many reasons.

It keeps all of your blogging activity in one place and doesn’t require you to using multiple formats to produce your best work.

A paper calendar is just too low tech for me. Plus I know that I would not be good at taking it everywhere that I go and it would invariably be at work when I needed to write at home.

I like the month at a glance format of this plugin.

What other tools do you use to keep yourself organized for blogging? Please let me know any tools that I am missing in the comments below.

Well, just that exact thing happened to me. I had been having problems with my site and my wordpress installation so I decided to delete it all and start over.

I know that there are ways to back up your content, but before you suggest it, I’lll let you in on the fact that I didn’t do that. Poor planning on my part.

With the bad luck of losing it all, I’ve decided to take that opportunity to make some changes to this site. I have a new design that will be changing over the next several weeks as I have time to make additional changes to the site and I plan on renewing my commitment to blogging more regularly.

So after several years of blogging, I’m back with a vengance.
